This is the required foundational course for all new California ECC Rater applicants. After completing the online course, required in-field training, and the field exam, you will be assigned a short Rater Company Training and Certification course. Once all required training is complete, you will be certified to provide ECC verifications. Subjects in this course include:

Basics of Building Science
ECC Field Verifications and Diagnostic Inspections
CHEERS Registry Training

This course has practice quizzes between modules and a final exam at the end. After completing the course with a passing rate of 70% or higher, you will schedule the field portion of your training with CHEERS field training staff.

An EPA 608 Type II or Universal Certification is required prior to becoming a certified ECC Rater. CHEERS is an EPA-approved provider and offers both Type II and Universal 608 certification courses in our course catalog.
